When does my health fund reset?

health insurance reset

If you are like many people from the Gold Coast, you may well ask the question ‘When does my health insurance reset?’. We get it. It has been a tough 18 months for a lot of people and health often gets put into the ‘when I can afford it’ basket.

Private health funds can help to cover the essentials like that unexpected hospital visit when you drop that kitchen knife. Or when your 7 year old falls down the stairs and needs surgery for a broken bone. Extras cover can often help get you access to much needed services like chiropractic care, remedial massage therapy, physio, and dental too.

You don’t need Private Health Fund cover to see us. If you have a health fund though remember these extras policies often come with limits on the amount you can claim in any given period. This is usually one year. However the reset date varies depending on who you are insured with and what your policy says.

We did some internet searching for you in order to put together a list of health fund reset dates that can help you plan your healthcare budget. You can check out Finder.com.au for more detail too.

Which health fund resets on July 1st?

The health funds that reset on July 1st are – AHM, Defence Health, One Medi Fund, Navy Health, and People Care Health Insurance. (Links provided for your easy reference.

This means that if you have extras cover and you have a balance left that you want to use before the health fund reset on July 1st, you need to BOOK NOW! We can help you with a chiro or targeted remedial massage appointment, or  you can call your physio or dentist right away!

Some health fund resets are based on when you joined –

A few health funds reset their extras covers from the anniversary date of when you joined them. Health Funds like this generally let you know via a notice or email about the date when your plan resets. However you can always contact them and ask. Who knows, you might also be able to get a better deal for the next renewal period too. It never hurts to ask.

The most common health funds that reset annually on your joining anniversary are: Grand United (GU) Health, and Queensland Country Health Fund.

For most people, their health fund reset date is January 1st –

The vast majority of the health funds available in QLD to our clients have their annual reset date set as January 1st.

These include: CUA, HCF, Bupa, Medibank Private, NIB, Qantas Health, Suncorp, ACA, APIA, Australian Unity, CBHS, Doctors Health, Emergency Health, FRANK, GMHBA, HBF, HIF, Own Health, Teachers Health, Transport Health, TUH, Uni Health and Westfund – and more!
